Here are three tips on developing a useful annual plan:

1. Company culture  –  Lay out some ideas on company outings, team building and professional development opportunities that need to be incorporated into the annual planning efforts.

2.  Editorial  –  Lay out in a 12-month structure what topics you want to push marketing or media-wise.

3.  Social media  –  Set goals for engagement and followers for each social media channel. It’s also smart, as an executive, to set a personal goal for how many times you will post each week on LinkedIn as a thought leader.

Make sure your plan has tactics, not just overarching goals.
