We all can tell it is coming, summer is near and we are all embracing for the hot Oklahoma heat! While many go to the pool here in Oklahoma, I try to stay out of the sun due to my fair skin.

A fun way to get refreshed and renergized this summer is to try Cryotherapy at OK CRYO! But what is great about cryotherapy, it wasn't even designed to help people cool down, it actually was made to help those that need to recover from workouts, performances, shows, races, etc. It also does great for those who have sore and achy joints. So that basically covers people who are young athletes to those who are near retirement, have an active lifestyle, but want to get rid of the aches that come with simply getting older!

Cryotherapy is cold, not going to try and sugar coat that fact. It exposes your skin to temperatures -200 to -300 Fahrenheit. But it is a fun experience, that the results leave you feeling good, refreshed and ready for a big race or simply a day filled with errands.

Whole Body Cryotherapy is a cooling process that significantly lowers the skin temperature.

You are in the chamber for a 2-3 minute session. Someone stays in there with you the whole time, so if you need to stop you can - but trust me, if you just do a little jig and laugh and embrace the experience, it goes by fast!

You can see my visit in this quick video:

Keep in mind, it is not a medical procedure, but rather, a non-invasive option for any person seeking health and wellness benefits. I have spoken with physical therapy friends who say Cryotherapy works and the have many patients who visit cryotherapy locations each week.

Lets get into the science behind in:
Whole Body Cryotherapy works by first exposing the skin to a cold stimulus, which activates the nervous system and causes the blood vessels to constrict, reducing inflammation while pulling blood back into the body’s core where it is re-oxygenated. The activation of the nervous system also causes the release of endorphins & opioids, numbing pain and producing feelings of euphoria.

When you step out of the cryosauna, this freshly oxygenated blood flushes out to the body carrying nutrients and anti-inflammatory proteins to help speed recovery.

Cold therapy causes vasoconstriction, followed by vasodilation after treatment.

Whole Body Cryotherapy has a range of effects that vitalize the body. For instance, toxins and other stored deposits are flushed out of the layers of skin and blood perfusion is improved. Metabolic rate is improved, your body is able to burn an extra 500-800 calories the day of treatment. Not to mention the energy! Energy levels are increased almost immediately. Collagen production and elasticity return to your skin, cellulite is reduced, and a younger looking and feeling you appears after your first visit!

With Whole Body Cryotherapy, inflammation is greatly reduced, improving performance, decreasing pain from inflammation or injury.

Go Try It!
